Someone who is experienced and skilled in listening in a focused and non judgmental way can help us to sort out some of the confusion and to understand why we are feeling as we are. It is not about providing a quick solution, but it is about helping to find ways of coping with the situation and moving forward.

The crisis may be about bereavement or other loss, about isolation or loneliness or extreme stress, or a combination of factors like these. People often find the process of hearing themselves “tell their story” to someone who knows nothing about the situation previously and who will allow periods of silence without pressure or embarrassment very liberating. With the help of feedback on what has been heard, together with a few questions and suggestions, it is often possible to see some clarity in the situation which can bring back a little sense of control.

practical help in interview techniques and lack of confidence

Interviews and other challenging situations may present huge hurdles for people. Often it is many years since someone has been to an interview or made a presentation. Well qualified, highly skilled and experienced people often find themselves completely daunted by such situations.

Simple strategies to overcome these fears can be developed very quickly and they give the confidence to enable people to do themselves justice and to be successful. The session includes preparation for the interview or similar situation, self presentation, answering questions and ways of making a good impression.

support and help in life crises and challenging situations

When life gets really tough, we may feel that we need help in trying to think our way through our confused thoughts and feelings. Relatives and friends can be very supportive, but sometimes it is difficult to talk freely with people who are very close to us or who may be emotionally involved themselves in the situation.
